Welcome to the Free Learning module 'PAIC 15: Pain Assessment in Impaired Cognition'.
It is not easy to assess pain in people with impaired cognition, e.g. people with dementia. The ability to report about pain declines along with the ability to understand questions like "Do you have pain?" Fortunately, there are other ways to assess pain, namely by observing the persons’ behaviour. Researchers have developed a tool for this: the PAIC 15 observation scale. PAIC stands for: “Pain Assessment in Impaired Cognition”.
This e-training will help you to recognize fifteen behavioural signs of pain and to use the PAIC 15 scale to assess pain in people with impaired cognition, especially dementia.
This e-learning module is primarily intended for caregivers and nurses who work with people with impaired cognition, especially dementia.
It will take approximately 30 minutes to finish the training.
If you have answer more than 70% of the questions correctly, you can download a certificate at the end of this e-training. You can repeat the training as many times as you want.
